Received an "A" rating in the MSCI ESG ratings

In July 2024, Mabuchi Motor has received an "A" rating in the MSCI* ESG ratings for three consecutive years.

The MSCI ESG Ratings are a global evaluation index for ESG investment, based on an analysis of how well a company manages ESG (environmental, social, and governance) risks and opportunities, with ratings ranging from AAA (the highest rank) to CCC (the lowest rank) on a seven-point scale.

*MSCI: A financial services company based in New York, USA. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the company offers a variety of tools to support investment decisions for institutional investors worldwide, including large public pensions, asset managers, and hedge funds.

Selected as an index constituent of FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index

In June 2024, Mabuchi Motor has been selected as an index constituent of FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index.
The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is developed by global index provider FTSE Russell. It is designed to be sector-neutral, reflecting the relative performance of Japanese companies with superior environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance in each sector.

Mabuchi Motor selected as a constituent of the SOMPO Sustainability Index

In June 2024, we have been selected as a constituent stock of the "SOMPO Sustainability Index" instituted by Sompo Asset Management Co.,Ltd..

The SOMPO Sustainability Index is comprised of approximately 300 companies that excel in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives, and is used for the company's sustainable investment management. The stocks selected for inclusion in the index are reviewed annually based on the results of the "Bunanomori Environmental Questionnaire" and the "ESG Management Survey" conducted by Sompo Risk Management Inc..

Recognized as a “Certified Health and Productivity Management Organization 2024 (Large Enterprise Category)"

In March 2024, Mabuchi Motor has been recognized as a "Certified Health & Productivity Management Organization 2024 (Large Enterprise Category)" This is the fifth consecutive year of certification since 2020.

The Health & Productivity Management Organization Program is a program to award corporations, including large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises, that practice particularly excellent health management, based on their efforts to address local health issues and the health promotion initiatives promoted by the Japan Health Council.

Acquired TISAX certification, an information security evaluation standard

Our company has acquired TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) certification, an information security assessment standard established by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

TISAX is a mechanism for companies in the automotive industry to share information security assessment results based on the information security assessment standards established by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). This certification reinforces the reliability of our information security system and serves as proof of the safe and appropriate management and operation of the information assets handled by our company.

Received “Platinum Kurumin" Certification

We have been certified as "Platinum Kurumin" by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare on December 5, 2022.
“Platinum Kurumin" is a certification given to companies that have been certified as Kurumin as a "child-rearing support company" under the Law for Measures to Support the Development of the Next Generation, and that are implementing even higher-level initiatives. Of the 535 companies nationwide that have been certified as "Platinum Kurumin," only 11 have been certified as "Platinum Kurumin" in Chiba Prefecture. (As of December 31, 2022).

Received 3.5 Star Rating in the 11th Annual Corporate Quality Management Survey

In the 11th "Corporate Quality Management Survey", we were awarded 3.5 stars, which is the upper rank of the overall rating.

This survey has been conducted since 2004, and the results have been made public in the form of ratings since 2022.
The survey evaluates a company's efforts to maintain and improve the quality of its products and services on a 5-star scale.

Received ”Encouragement Award at “Chiba Prefecture Gender Equality Promotion Office Awards in 2021“

In January 2022, we received the Encouragement Award at the Chiba Prefecture Gender Equality Promotion Office Awards.
In order to promote gender equality in the workplace, the Chiba Prefecture Gender Equality Promotion Office Award has been presented since 2006 to business establishments in Chiba Prefecture that are actively working to promote the employment of women, expand their job scope, and support the balancing of work and life. We applied for the award for the first time in 2021 and received the Encouragement Award. The Encouragement Award is given to business establishments that have made positive efforts and are expected to make further efforts in the future. In receiving the award, we received recognition for the following
The company is actively recruiting female engineers and other female job seekers and is making efforts to support a balance between work and childcare through a variety of measures, with 100% of employees taking maternity leave.
The company has established an in-house integrated educational institution for human resource development and is working to enhance its education and training system, including the development of an environment that enables efficient and systematic learning of necessary knowledge.

Received "Bicycle Commuting Company Declaration" certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

In November 2020, we received the "Bicycle Commuting Company Declaration" certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. To receive this certification, companies must meet the following certification criteria.

  1. The company allows bicycle commuting
  2. The company secures a bicycle parking lot
  3. The company provides traffic safety education is provided to users at least once a year.
  4. The company obliges bicycle commuters to take out insurance

We believe that bicycle commuting is effective in reducing the environmental burden such as CO2 reduction, improving the health of employees through moderate exercise, and reducing the risk of infection such as train and bus commuting in Corona.

We were granted the highest grade of "Eruboshi" certification

In August 2020, Mabuchi Motor has been certified as an "Eruboshi" ('L Star': L stands for Lady, Labor and Laudable) company with the highest grade by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in August 2020 based on the Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.

The "Eruboshi" certification recognizes those companies that excel in promoting women's success in the workplace. Recipients must meet the following 5 conditions to be awarded: (1) employment, (2) continued employment, (3) working styles (length of workday, etc.) (4) ratio of women in management positions, and (5) diverse career progression.

Acquired “Tomonin” as a company working on a “workplace environment where work and care can be balanced”

In December 2019, As a company that is working to create a work environment where employees can balance work and nursing care, we have acquired “Tomonin” from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
We will continue to improve the work environment where both work and nursing care can be solved, and we will solve social problems that increase the number of employees leaving for the care of their families.

The 1st Annual "Japan-Central Eastern Europe Investment Awards-Top Automotive Supplier Investors" Winner

In April 2019, we received the "The 1st annual Japan - Central Eastern Europe Investment Awards - Top Automotive Supplier Investors". This award is given to Japanese companies that have made significant contributions and investment in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Recognizing the investment made in establishing Poland Mabuchi in the Krakow area of Poland, the company was selected as the first award winning company.

Mabuchi Motor Headquarters Building Received "Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award" at the 2nd Sustainable Architecture Awards

In February 2008, we received the "Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award" in the office building category of the 2nd Sustainable Architecture Awards sponsored by the Building Environment and Energy Conservation Organization.
This award is an excellent work as a building, and with the cooperation of the builder, the designer, and the builder, it has achieved remarkable results in reducing the environmental load and energy saving, and the building is expected to be widely used. The purpose of this award is to preserve the global environment, improve the energy-saving effect of buildings, and improve and disseminate design, construction, and operation management techniques related to them.
Mabuchi Motor's Headquarters Building is a facility that provides "long-life architecture" with an eye on the life cycle, "architecture as an environmental adjustment device" that adapts to various environments, and "high-quality work environment and service performance". Received the 1st "Porter Prize"

In 2001, our company was awarded the 1st "Porter Prize" sponsored by the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy of Hitotsubashi University (ICS). The Porter Prize was established to recognize companies that have achieved and maintained high profitability in their industry as a result of implementing unique strategies based on innovation. The prize is named after Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard University, a leading expert in competitive strategy. The Porter Prize consists of the "a department that operates a single business" and the "a division of a company that operates multiple businesses" In the former category, our company was recognized for maintaining the world leader in standardization strategies for small DC brushed motors for half a century and was selected as the first company to receive the prize.

 

Initiatives that we support

Participation in the GX League

In May 2023, we were pleased to announce its participation in the GX League, an initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The GX League was established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) as a forum for companies actively engaged in GX (Green Transformation) to collaborate with other companies engaged in similar initiatives and with government and academia to discuss the transformation of the entire economic and social system and to practice creating new markets with a view to achieving carbon neutrality and social reform by 2050.
In March 2022, we endorsed the "GX League Basic Concept" proposed by the Ministry, and has been expanding its knowledge on the creation of business opportunities and the formation of market rules for carbon neutrality by 2050. Through our participation in the GX League, we will continue to make steady progress in our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Registered with the "Chiba SDGs Partner Registration System"

In February 2022, we applied for the first call for the "Chiba SDGs Partner Registration System" promoted by Chiba Prefecture, where our head office is located, and were registered in recognition of our efforts to set specific goals and promote initiatives in the three aspects of "environment," "society," and "economy," which are requirements for registration. Supports the "My Jinken Declaration" project

In September 2021, Mabuchi MOTOR Co., Ltd. supports the "My Jinken Declaration" project promoted by the Ministry of Justice and has declared the "My Human Rights Declaration.

The "My Jinken Declaration" is an initiative that aims to realize a society in which everyone respects human rights by having companies, organizations and individuals declare that they will take actions that respect human rights.

Agree with "Challenge to 30% in 2030- # Here We Go 203030"

In April 2021, Mabuchi MOTOR Co., Ltd. agreed with Keidanren’s goal of "Challenge to 30% in 2030- # Here We Go 203030“.

"Challenge to 30% in 2030- # Here We Go 203030" is an initiative to promote the goal of increasing the ratio of female executives of companies to 30% or more by 2030. We would like to promote the diversification of active human resources and reform of the organizational culture, centered on supporting companies, and broadly foster the momentum for achieving the goals.

Endorsement of the "Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) Recommendations"

In March 2021, Mabuchi has announced its support for the recommendations of the "Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)". We are pleased to inform you that we have participated in the "TCFD Consortium".
Under our Management Principle, "Contribution to the International Community and its Continuous Expansion," we have established the Sustainability Policy to achieve sustainable development and have established Sustainability Committee to implement actions in line with the policy. In the future, based on the TCFD recommendations, we will analyze the risks and opportunities that climate poses to our business, and by proactively disclosing information, we will build strong and long-term relationships of trust with all of our stakeholders, including customers, business partners, and employees, and contribute to the realization of the sustainable society.

  1. About “TCFD" : It is an organization established by the "Financial Stability Board (FSB)", an international organization responsible for the supervision of the financial system and publishes proposals that require the disclosure of information related to climate change, including analysis of the risks and opportunities posed by climate change and measures based on the results of such analysis.
  2. About "TCFD Consortium" : It is a consortium established as a forum for domestic companies and financial institutions that support the TCFD recommendations to discuss effective corporate disclosure and efforts to link disclosed information to appropriate investment decisions by financial institutions and others.

"Declaration of Partnership Building"

In January 2021, we has announced the declaration in support of the purpose of the "Declaration of Partnership Building".

The mechanism of "Declaration of Partnership Building" in order to build a sustainable relationship in which large and small companies can grow together at the "Council for the Promotion of Partnership Building for the Future," whose members include the Ministers of the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, as well as the Chairman of Keidanren, the President of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chairman of Union.
The purpose is to declare compliance with desirable business practices (the "Promotion Standards" based on the Act on Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises by Subcontractors) between the parent company and subcontractors, and to "visualize" the efforts of each company by posting them on the "Declaration of Partnership Building" portal site.
As stated in the "Declaration of Partnership Building", we will build newer and stronger partnerships by promoting cooperation and coexistence and co-prosperity with our supply chain suppliers and value-creating businesses.

Signed the "United Nations Global Compact"

In January 2021, we has endorsed and signed the United Nations Global Compact proposed by the United Nations.

The United Nations Global Compact calls on companies and organizations to act in a sound and responsible manner in order to achieve sustainable growth, based on the commitment of top corporate executives themselves to endorse ten principles related to the protection of human rights, the elimination of unfair labor practices, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption.

We have established our Sustainability Policy in order to put into practice our management philosophy of "Contributing to International Society and Continuously Increasing Our Contribution." We view the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) as goals that will enable us to grow economically while respecting people, and we will strive for further growth together with our customers, business partners, employees, and other stakeholders to achieve them.

Submited declaration of voluntary action to support "White Logistics movement Campaign"

In August 2020, we submitted a voluntary action declaration in support of the purpose of the "White Logistics" promotion campaign advocated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
"White logistics" aims to contribute to economic growth by stably securing logistics necessary for people's lives and industrial activities in order to respond to the ever-growing shortage of truck drivers (1). This is a movement to improve the productivity of truck transportation, improve the efficiency of logistics, and (2) realize a comfortable working environment for women and drivers in their 60s to work.

About the “Change! JPN” campaign-support for the national movement to promote work-life balance

From December 2019, We establish “No Work Overtime” on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, in addeition to we set “Health Promotion Day” four times a month in order to prevent and improve lifestyle-related diseases of employees. All employees clock out at 17:00 at once.
Besides we are educating managers so that all employees can take paid leave for more than 10 days a year. Also the work environment has been improved by introducing telework and satellite offices.
At the same time, we are also actively promoting improvement proposal activities and efficient reviews of work.

Participated in “Encouragement of Employees! Energetic Company Declaration” in Chiba Prefecture

In February 2008, we announced our participation in the Encouragement of employees! Energetic company declaration" in Chiba Prefecture. Our company is promoting family-friendly measures, including the establishment of child-care leave periods that exceed the requirements of laws and regulations and the introduction of a system to reduce the working hours of employees raising children.
